Occupational Noise Assessments

The person conducting the business or undertaking who provides the personal protective equipment as a control measure must provide audiometric testing for the worker. Your workplace may need regular noise assessments to comply with the New South Wales regulations. The New South Wales Work Health and Safety Act 2011 No 10 and the Work Health and Safety Regulations (2012) sets an eight-hour energy average (LAeq 8hr.) limit of 85 dBA and a peak noise exposure level limit of 140 dB(C). An employer must ensure that appropriate control measures are taken if a person is exposed to noise levels exceeding either of these limits. The maximum penalty for an offence committed by a body corporate is $1,500,000.
